"Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness" - Psalm 96:9
WORSHIP
First Baptist Church embraces an order of worship that is liturgical, yet vibrant. Deriving from the Charleston Tradition of Baptist worship, our service is formal, with a strong emphasis being placed on the proclamation of scripture and the formation of the faith community through prayer and praise. First Baptist Church follows the seasons of the Christian Year as a means of marking time together, and preaching is normally based on readings from the Revised Common Lectionary. Our ministers wear robes as a symbol of our unity in Christ, and music centers around strong choral/congregational singing and our historic pipe organ. We celebrate the ordinance of communion on the first Sunday of each month, and this observance is open to all persons, regardless of age or church affiliation.

How do I get there?
The First Baptist Church sanctuary is located at 223 Bull Street, with the front door opening to beautiful Chippewa Square. Our education building is located behind the sanctuary at 102 West McDonough Street.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in our church lot off Hull Street and in the reserved portions of McDonough Street. Street parking is free on Sundays in Savannah and we would suggest arriving at least 30 minutes early to find a spot. Additional parking is available at the Savannah Civic Center if an event is not going on. The Liberty Parking Deck is free when an order of worship is shown upon exiting (301 W. Liberty St, Savannah, GA 31401). The Robinson Parking Deck is also free when an order of worship is shown upon exiting (132 Montgomery St, Savannah, GA 31401).
What time does the service start?
Each Sunday, worship begins at 11:00 am. We suggest arriving early to park and experiencing some quiet space within the sanctuary before worship begins.
What is offered for children?
Children are welcome in worship at First Baptist Church Savannah! A calming room for children and mothers is also available in the sanctuary building throughout worship. Following the choir's anthem, children ages pre-K through 5th grade are dismissed to Children's Church for a worship-themed activity. Those children wishing to remain with their families may do so.
What does FBC Savannah believe?
We believe Jesus treated everyone with a spirit of love and equality. Therefore, we accept every individual without regard to age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status. We affirm all persons as created in the image of God.
What is the style of the service?
First Baptist Church worship can best be described as traditional and open-minded. You will experience an excellence in music along with fresh expressions of creativity. We hope you will find something familiar and something new every Sunday.
Is there a dress code?
No! Our ministers and choir wear robes and many in the congregation wear their Sunday best. You will also see polo shirts, t-shirts, and shorts on any given Sunday. Please feel free to come as you are!
Is there a time of fellowship?
Yes! Coffee and doughnuts are served in the reception area under the sanctuary each Sunday from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. The actual designated fellowship time is 10:30 am until 11:00 am.
Is there Sunday School?
Yes! There are variety of classes offered. Check out the listing on our "Discipleship" page for more information.
