"Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness" - Psalm 96:9
First Baptist Church embraces an order of worship that is liturgical, yet vibrant. Deriving from the Charleston Tradition of Baptist worship, our service is formal, with a strong emphasis being placed on the proclamation of scripture and the observance of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. First Baptist Church follows the seasons of the Christian Year as a means of marking time together, and preaching is normally based on readings from the Revised Common Lectionary. Our ministers and choir members wear robes and music is centered around the organ and adult choir. We celebrate the ordinance of communion on the first Sunday of each month, and this symbolic observance is open to all persons, regardless of age or church affiliation.
