Reverend Katie Callaway
Katie is a Co-Pastor of First Baptist Church, Savannah, Georgia. She Co-Pastors with her husband, John, whom she met in Divinity School. Born and raised in North Carolina, Katie received her Bachelor of Arts from Roanoke College, completed a Master of Divinity at Wake Forest University School of Divinity, and a Master of Theology at Emory University. She is passionate about helping people grow in their faith through pursuing questions, doubts, and curiosities. In her spare time, she loves being outdoors cycling, running, hiking, or just enjoying a good book. She and John have a two legged child named Sophie and a four legged child named Lily.
Reverend John Callaway
John is a Co-Pastor of First Baptist Church of Savannah. John was born and raised in Boiling Springs, SC. He completed an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in education at Clemson University and then attended the Wake Forest University School of Divinity and completed a Master of Divinity degree. Having worked in and alongside churches across the Southeast preaching, teaching, and leading music, John feels called to help others recognize the “burning bushes” in their lives and to help them grow along their faith journeys. John enjoys hiking, reading, playing music, and walking with his wife, Katie, daughter, Sophie, and dog, Lily
Reverend James C. Richardson
Rev. James C. Richardson is the Organist Emeritus at First Baptist Church and is currently serving the congregation as an interim musician and minister. He attended Mars Hill College, graduating in 1968 with a Bachelor of Music degree. He was the recipient of the John Crisp Music Medal in 1968, served as a College Marshal, and graduated magna cum laude.
Rev. Richardson attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where he graduated in 1971 with a Master of Church Music degree, with major in Organ Performance. He was voted by the faculty the Most Outstanding Student in the School of Church Music in 1970, and was a Luther Rice Scholar.
Rev. Richardson’s ministerial experience is with churches in Stuart, VA, Burnsville, NC, Louisville, KY, and the First Baptist Church of Savannah, GA. He was ordained by the First Baptist Church of Savannah in 1978.
