Church Update – March 21,2020

 FIRST News Weekly Email
Dear First Baptist Family,

We hope that all are doing well this week and keeping in good spirits in these uncertain times. The work of the church has continued on. Each time we have spoken to folks in the congregation, we have heard stories of how others in our beloved community are stepping up to help. We are going to get through this because we have a powerful and caring community. We have moved our usual Tuesday email to Saturday to help congregants have an easy link to Sunday worship.

Here is an update on the way we are being church during this pandemic:
In compliance with the federal, state, and local officials, we will continue to not hold in-person worship. We will also continue to stream a worship service at 11 a.m. on Facebook Live. (Click Here). You do not have to have a Facebook account to watch live or to watch the recording afterward.

We began a Church-Wide Check-In last week via Zoom teleconferencing. These were well attended and we predict that they will become a more vital part of our fellowship and support of one another as the quarantine continues. We will host these check ins this week on Tuesday (March 24th) and Thursday (March 26th) from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

We will continue to call many of our members to check-in with them and see if they have any particular needs.
Create a sacred space in your home. While many are working from home and worshiping at home in addition to the normal activities that happen in the home, it may be important to your worship experience to have a particular space that is dedicated to your spiritual journey. Perhaps this is just lighting a candle at the table. Or maybe it means taking out the family Bible along with relics of your spiritual journey and placing them on a table with the computer where you watch our services.Take a picture of your sacred space and send it to john@fbc-sav.org. We will make a slideshow and send it out in the next email update. We are praying for each of you daily. This church is equipped with the right people and resources to get through this crisis together. Please let us know if any needs arise for you or your families.

Grace and Peace,
Katie and John Callaway
