DR. GEORGE H. SHRIVER is a professor of history, emeritus, Georgia Southern University. In his forty-one years as a professor, he received numerous awards including Professor of the Year and the GSU Ruffin Cup, he founded and chaired the religious studies minor, and he was elected to Phi Kappa Phi as faculty.
The present volume is his tenth book, and he has published dozens of articles, numerous chapters and essays in books, and hundreds of book reviews. His major publications include America Religious Heretics, the Humanness of John Calvin, and Philip Schaff. Christian Scholar and Ecumenical Prophet. His works have been featured in Christian Century and American National Biography.
A graduate of Stetson University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Shriver obtained his doctorate at Duke University. He makes his home in Statesboro, Georgia, with his wife, Cathy. The Shrivers enjoy hiking and tennis and travel extensively.
