FOUNDERS' DAY CONCERT

This Sunday is Founders’ Day, and following
the Third Sunday Luncheon, the music ministry will
present a concert in honor of the 300th anniversary of
the birth of Charles Wesley. This author of over
6,500 hymns spent part of his life here in Savannah,
and it is appropriate that we honor his great
contribution to our worship with a program of his
hymns, which we are calling “Our Great Redeemer’s
Praise,” using a phrase from one of his most popular
hymns. Paul Leddington Wright has published a
collection of Wesley texts, some in arrangements of
familiar tunes and others set to original music.
Several of these will be featured in our Founders’ Day
Concert. In addition to the settings sung by the Adult
Choir, our youth and children will sing, and there will
be several hymns sung by the congregation. Plan to
join us for this program as we celebrate Wesley’s
300th birthday and our church’s 207th.
