EXCITEMENT FILLED THE AIR AT THE FBC "AVALANCHE RANCH"
WAHOO! "Avalanch Ranch" was rip roaring success made possible by the diligent work of 21 adults, 8 youth helpers and 3 Savannah Baptist Center summer missionaries. They reached out to 25 children within our FBC families and 27 children from the center itself. This was the first time that our Vacation Bible School had served not only our own children but became a missional project by opening our doors to these inner city kids as well. To be honest, it was a learning experience for all of us, but as I said at Children's time on July22, the week was 75% ranch and only 25% journey. The greatest blessing that has come from the week is that "our" kids became friends with "their" kids and our children have resoundingly said "let's do it again!"
A number of us including adults and youth gathered around a table in Lewis Hall following our rodeo round up on Friday for an impromptu meeting where we assessed the week and began fine-tuning plans for next year. You will be hearing about this in coming days and months. You can put July 7-11, 2008, on your calendars because that's the week for VBS at FBC! More importantly place that event on your prayer calendar. My many thanks to each and all who made "Avalanche Ranch" the week that it was because we needed all of you even if for only a day. Can you imagine 84 people involved in our Vacation Bible School? It really DID happen!
